is it safe to say that OSU is already preparing for Clemson?

IMO, you should 100% have to win your conference to be included in the Top 4 for the playoff. There should be clear parameters in place for this going forward. Absolute bullsh to not reward conference champions, particularly a P5 conference champ.
However, it does not appear that the committee is going to drop OSU after the conference championship weekend plays out. The only LONG shot is them being bumped to #1 IF Bama were to somehow all get the Black Plague & die during the SECCG & also Clemson somehow NOT win the ACCCG. Even after Clemson wins the ACCCG the committee MIGHT bump them to #2 & drop OSU to #3, which makes the match up the same in the end.
So does OSU spend the entire upcoming "extra" week prepping for a playoff with Clemson & maybe have their interns put info together on Washington if by some miracle Clemson loses & drops after the ACCCG? OR do both Clemson & Washington jump over OSU to #2 & #3 respectively dropping OSU to #4 & thus a playoff against Bama...? Thereby causing a need to put some interns on both Wash & Bama this week, just in case.
Additionally, do you think it is at all fair that OSU gets this "extra" week to prep for a playoff game...?

I could see Ohio State getting in, but the committee rewarding the conference champions with the top 3 seeds and Ohio State coming in at #4.
ETA:
See TCU for why Ohio State would drop from not playing next weekend and winning a conference championship.

If Penn State wins the Big 10, imo, they are in and OSU is out. Win your conference if you want in the dance.

So if a 5 loss team manages to win their conference, they should get in?
Best 4. Conference Champions help determine the best 4, but it isn't the end all be all. If you're going to give AQ bids to conference champions, make it where only unbeaten power 5 champions are guaranteed a spot.
I definitely don't want to go beyond 4, 8 may take away from CFB's great regular season.

I honestly believe that if the final four is Bama/OSU/Clemson/Wash, then the committee MIGHT put Ohio State at 4 as the only non conference champion. It guarantees the Bama/Ohio State money maker game and it "punishes" Ohio State for not winning their conference.

The entire thought of a playoff committee is there because of how wrong your statement is
If only Conf champions are going to the playoffs, why do we need a committee?

OSU coaches and players take week off and interns start cutting up film of Clemson for first round and Alabama for championship.

But that kind of punishes Bama too in that scenario right?

Not sure why people keep using the 2014 TCU/Baylor comparison. It's apple to oranges. Ohio State's 2016 resume shits on theirs from 2 years ago.

We have BCS computer rankings. Why do we need a committee?
To make sure the blue bloods (OSU) get the playoff slots.

The BCS rankings still have Ohio State comfortably at 2.

The #1 criteria when things are close is conference championships, and that's when everyone found out that the committee was dead serious about that.
It really proved how useless their ratings were until after the conference championship games were played.

If LSU was in a similar situation right now I'm sure posters on here would be saying the same things they are now about OSU.........
Posted on 11/27/16 at 6:43 am to Floyd Pambrose
IMO if they don't have to play a conference title game like the rest of the field put them at #4 against #1 Bama.
Posted on 11/27/16 at 6:44 am to TDawg1313
That's their criteria when they feel teams are even. Hocutt has clearly stated the committee views Ohio State and Penn State in separate clusters. Basically, they already positioned themselves for Ohio State to make it.
The only thing that could change that is another 59-0 blowout of Wisconsin. And that's not going to happen.

I agree completely. When things are close use conference titles. Things are not close. OSU has 4 top 25 and 3 top 10 wins, 2 on the road. PSU has 1 top 10 win and that's their only ranked win. Oh yea OSU has 1 loss and PSU has 2.
I'd PSU had played Florida OCC and win they would be getting a lot more credit. Instead they scheduled Pitt and lost

The committee's own website says that conference champion is part of their process, along with head to head. It's not a meaningless game.

It's amazing how many people are ignoring Penn State has a second loss. That matters and the committee is factoring it in.

Wiscy lost to both Michigan and osu..they're fortunate to be playing in a division that is shite.
I can see Psu getting in simple because theyre losses were early in the season. I guess it all depends on how bad they beat wiscy.
My choice would be osu
