i think its the hypocrisy that bothers some on the left. The right freaked out when the obamas went to hawaii on vacation, but melania remaining in NYC and costing the country a ton of cash is totally cool.
This can only be considered hypocritical if you consider those things approximately equally important. And that's a really difficult argument to make.

boils down to should the Presidents be free to live their life how they want or should the cost be considered.
Also what are comparable cost.

i feel that there are probably equivalent schools in washington DC. When you take a job in a different city, you move your family and enroll them in local schools.
Let him finish the semester, then bring him to DC and enroll him in a school there.
its not that complicated.
