I thought Auburn Hills was a better spot because Detroit was not desirable? Will old arena be torn down?

Downtown Detroit is actually undergoing a bit of a revival right now and has become a somewhat desirable location. Auburn Hills is a pretty nice area but it's hard to get to and from for most of the Metro Detroit region.

There is nothing official about what's going to happen to The Palace right now but the whispers are it's going to get knocked down. The land is actually pretty desirable because it's in a row of Automotive supplier company headquarters and only a couple miles away from Chrysler's head quarters so the thought right now is that some auto supplier company will buy and build on the land.

Downtown Detroit is the hub to the "spoke" freeway system. Even if the surrounding neighborhoods are a dumpster fire, the central location is still a good one. Auburn Hills would have been a better location if the northerly Detroit suburban sprawl hadn't slowed down shortly after its inception.
