I'd imagine Cruz has a lot more to work with to build his resume for 2024 as AG than another face in the senate. This allows Trump to keep Cruz close and might curry favor with Senators who think Cruz is an a-hole personally and will be relieved not to deal with him. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Robert Kennedy was atty general. He could have won the presidency but he died.
