On T White's performance Saturday

Rewatched the game, long TD was just a good move by the WR and a mental lapse by white.
The WR slowed down and then turned to his head, white matched his speed and then turned his head to look for the ball. It's instinctive as a DB to look for the ball when the WR does if you are in good position. The WR immediately took off the split second white turned, great play by him.
You could tell white was upset on the sideline, that might have got in his head and caused the muffed punt.
I've never been a huge fan of him returning punts but he is as good and consistent of a corner as there is in CFB. Just got a fooled by a great move timed perfectly, nothing to do with lack of effort or skill.

Were there people questioning his effort or skill?

Even the best CBs make mistakes every once in a while.
People really underestimate how good White is at CB. He has the best hips and sticky feet we've seen in a long time and we've had some really good ones at that position. He will be a long time NFL player.
And yes, he's been a stress causing return man for a while now. Never seems to look comfortable catching it. But he's pretty damn good when the ball gets in his hands. I wouldn't mind putting a sure handed guy back there when we don't need a return and just let White go back there when we desperately need some yards.

He had a bad game but has been incredible the rest of the year. He gets a pass.

As a corner he is elite.
As a punt returner he tries way too hard for the home run return.

Damn we have some miserable fans. Dude has been absolutely lights out for multiple seasons now. Gets beat once and now he lacks effort and skill. Damn...

He played an all around terrible game, worthy of being benched, in that game.
That being said, he's been a great tiger and i'm not bothered by his play from this game one bit, since it didn't affect the outcome of winning. happens to the best of 'em. Forget about it and move on.

I feel he is missing that hard cut ability, he has elite acceleration and good speed though. He won't make those first guys miss and head straight up field. He seems to catch and run wide trying outrun the coverage rather than catch and split the gunners looking for a seam.

I think I heard a quote stating that White heard a whistle during the play.

He's underrated. Opponents throw underneath but rarely challenge him downfield

I asked that question on the scoreboard in a thread when it happened. I wasn't in a position to actually notice what happened, it just looked like he stopped.
After rewatching I am 100% convinced in what I posted in the OP

He had a mental lapse on that TD pass. It happens. It's the hardest position in football to play. He's a shutdown, elite corner. I'm not going to be upset with him over one bad play.

White had 2 pass interferance penalties, gave up a TD on a 3rd and very long situation, and muffed a punt.
He had a bad game. No doubt about it. That being said just because fans bring it up doesn't mean we are throwing him under the proverbial bus. He played poorly. That is a fact.

It's time to start grooming Jackson for punt return duty, if he wasn't going backwards he was muffing a punt that almost got Hogs back in the game.

I've been saying this since the Alabama game last year. Jackson was taking punts deep in our own territory with coverage bearing down on him on the biggest stage. He looked very smooth, I trust him back there

Hey, he got burned once. It happens to the best. I've even seen Fournette mess up a couple of times. Most likely he'll come back next week and have a knockout game.
My tigahs looked great, and that includes everyone on the team.
Great effort!

White just had a rough rough game. Beaten on that pass play, fumbled the punt, and had a PI later in the game. Doesn't take away how awesome he's been all year though.
