If RBs are so easy to find, why haven't we had a dependable one since Pierre Thomas? Look at what Elliot is doing in Dallas. What Gurley is doing with the Rams. #1 stud RBs are still at a premium in the league. And we have:
Ingram - who's never done anything consistent for us.
Hightower - who has no knees
Lasco - solid
Cadet - pass catcher only
Murphy - returner who can't even hang onto his spot
Its not like we have this stable of backs who are irreplaceable.

Plus, Drew Brees isn't getting any younger. His production could fall of a cliff any year now. As he gets older we'll need to move to a more balanced attack ala the Broncos with both Elway and Manning.

I'm not going to complain if we get a stud pass rusher etc, but to act like we don't need or couldn't use Fournette to shore up our run game is absurd.

When is the last time you watched Todd Gurley? Elliott is a great player but has the best run blocking offensive line in the league which just allowed McFadden to have a 1000 yard season last year.

I hate stats cause the situations are different for every player and PFF for a variety of reasons but
134 rushes for 403 yards at 3.0 yards per carry with 2 fumbles and 34th ranked RB by PFF
89 rushes for 340 yards at 3.8 yards per carry with 2 fumbles and 35th ranked RB by PFF

Guess which of those is Mark Ingram and Todd Gurley. Without a capable offensive line and passing game Gurley is worthless and a lot of people on here keep saying to build around Leonard for future as Brees declines and retires which is fine if you have Dallas's offensive line. A good RB isn't worth a damn if the line can't run block. If we get a good offensive line the RB issues will stop. Instead we should be trying everything in our power to get an at least capable defense to have for the last run of Brees's career cause we will likely never have another player as good as him.
