I've been in the market for a new jacket myself. My biggest thing is that I want something of quality that won't cause me to sweat my balls off.
I keep a Columbia jacket in my car for emergency and it is nice, but it can get pretty hot pretty fast (and I've lost so much weight that it looks comically big on me now ) so I'd like to find another. I do like the fact that it stuffs into its own pocket.
I also have a mid-calf length rain coat that I use with my suits. However, it doesn't have a hood. I have to use either an umbrella (which I lost years ago and have yet to replace) or my fedora - I like the look, but I can't style my hair when I wear the hat.
