You realize that a large part of that shows purpose was showing how bigoted people could be on all sides and how a good person (Archie Bunker was in fact a good person) were products of their environments, right?

Archie was the dumbass - that was the point of the show. Same thing with George - he was the dumbass.

and sanford and son wasn't the black version of that? The Jeffersons as well?

People werent tissue paper soft back then and could take a joke without needing crawl into a safe space and contemplate about who needed to be sued.

God Al Bundy,Archie Bunker, George Jefferson were all hilarious characters in their time and today they'd all be racist/sexist bastards who would be ridiculed and pulled off the air after 1 episode in todays world of prima donnas
