My thought is you don't know anything about California. The West Coast states are pretty well armed, and the geography on top of that would stop them quickly. Yes there are Hollywood liberal pussies, but they don't speak for the people over there who like to hunt.

The West Coast states are armed to the nines dating back to WWII. We were afraid of a Japanese attack so we have machine gun nests and underground bunkers up and down the coast.

Which is about 1%. I don't think California would put up a fight at all. The geography would make advancement tough for an invasion but let's not say that they have an armed populace because they don't.
