Go out and become a head coach at a school that will hire you and prove that you have what it takes to be a great head coach.
Taking over a team that is uber-experienced, has talent mismatches all over the field, and then winning a few games with a coaching staff that another head coach assembled doesn't mean you can be THE man.

I think you missed the point. If Alleva said he would give him fair consideration, what more could he want to see? He knew O's resume when he made him the interim HC.
