Yes, they have trouble running the ball and that's mainly due to offensive line issues with run blocking and that's been a problem for a while, but it's hard to run the ball when you're playing catch up in every single game you play. So, I would attribute most of the problems with this team over the past few seasons to the defensive side of the ball. Look back to the 2009 season, the defense wasn't particularly good as far as yardage totals and such go but they created a shite load of turnovers for a high powered offense to just wreck shite on teams.

When your offense has to be lights out every single game of the season to win, then you're not going to be very successful. That falls back on the Head Coach as well as Loomis for not being able to put together a competent group of players on the defensive side of the ball. The Saints have always been an oddity to me when it comes to salary cap because they've really lacked that star quality player other than Drew since Peyton has been there, yet they always seem to be in cap trouble. They have a serious talent evaluation problem on the defensive side of the ball, and this leads them to attempt to fix it through free agency and that's a recipe for disaster, always has been and always will be.

I still think Sean Peyton is a good coach and I don't think he should be going anywhere. I do think we need a new GM who can build better rosters. If Peyton is the one calling who we draft and such then he needs to just coach and let someone else make those decisions on the defensive side of the ball.

2009-2011 are the greatest Saints teams ever assembled.

I may take flack, but I miss Greg William's defense and aggression. That defense gave up yards, but it created turnovers and put pressure on the quarterback.
