LSU is a more attractive job now. UT used to be king of Texas. Not anymore. And that isn't gonna change anytime soon. Even Saban wanted no part of it when UT wanted to give him $100 million. UT isn't where every kid in Texas wants to go to anymore. Won't matter who the coach is. TCU, aTm, Baylor, and even TT are places some of these kids want to go over UT these days. And coaches like Herman aren't scared to compete against Saban, they want that challenge. They want to measure their abilities against the best. And LSU can pay him just as much as UT can these days. So I just don't get why so many think UT is the better job...

It's not. The only thing UT has over LSU is Austin is a better city than Baton Rouge. That's it.

Why ? Don't see it. Big 12 is crap, UT isn't big dog in Texas anymore. Why is it better ?

Money.. Easier path to championships which means even more money. Our tigers are championship ready with a few tweets which levels the playing field imo.. But we won't outbid UT and don't think in the end $ won't win out.

Ok, you know what I mean. Stop playing stupid. Obviously not everyone. It's just that you hear it a lot. I'm not buying it. Maybe just got my purple and gold glasses on, but I see the LSU job being better. As Saban and Miles have proven, this state belongs to LSU in recruiting.

The lsu leaders are questionable. They really suck at decision making. A top notch coach like Herman deserves better imo.

Reviving Texas to national prominence has luster of its own. I'm with you, but prepare to be downvoted by the committee to elect Ed Orgeron.

That's what people here like to say. I couldn't find anything about it either. Think it's based on the fact that he was a GA there back in the day.

Now, you can find quotes of Herman saying that being the offensive coordinator at Rice was a "dream job," as well as saying that coaching at Ohio State was a "dream." Nothing about UT.

But again, money wins out, I understand that. But if you are not dominating the recruiting landscape in Texas, which I don't think anyone will anymore, you not gonna win championships. And again, this thing about an easier road I don't buy. I think coaches like Herman aren't looking for the easy road. They want to prove they are great coaches by competing and beating the best. The best isn't in the Big 12...

if I HAD to put money on a school that I think Herman will be at next year I'd put it on LSU.

You need to get this kind of shite out of your head stat. If you think for one second that recruiting a coach or recruits to LSU is easier than UT then you probably need to travel a bit more and get your head out of your arse. It's like two cities with terrible traffic, inexplicable traffic, even and while one college may be more appealing football-wise at the moment, the other isn't in Baton Rouge and is in one of the most desirable cities to live in this country. The other is in a relative shithole with comparable traffic and one of the least desirable places to live in this country. LSU is great, I loved my time there and anyone who goes will get what they put into it. Just stop with the ignorant notion that every coach or recruit on Earth is dying to be in BR, it'll help you sleep at night.

Sorry dude, Im an Lsu fan, but your wrong on some things.

Ut will be king of Texas again as soon as they start winning.

Saban didnt want part of UT because why leave the perfect machine you have built. He seems to be doing fine at Bama and will for as long as he coaches.

Lol, I mean really, have you been to College Station, Waco, or Lubbock? No college athlete would choose those over Austin.

Mack Brown pretty much quit recruiting, and gave offers off of video tape of the player Sophmore and Junior year. Thats why the talent level got so low.

Sure Herman isnt afraid of competition, but he would want to beat Saban in the national championship game. Its easier to get there from the big 12.

The only big negatives to Ut are the power brokers, longhorn network commitments, and over the top expectations from the cesspool people.

I like your spirit and I love Lsu. I agree lsu is a great job, but Ut is equal if not better.

It may simply come down to which place Herman's wife and family would be happier. If so I bet Austin wins.

Saban literally could not win any more than he has at Alabama at Texas, there was no point. It'd be easier for Herman to win in the big 12 than the SEC west, it's not necessarily a better job but that's a fact

this "no one can spend with Texas" narrative is a myth

If Saban could magically transport his players and staff to UT, he probably wouldn't lose a game in the Big 12 for a few years.
