Do you not think that Orgeron would keep LSU talented, or that no other coach is dependent on his assistants? O is poised to still finish with a top 5 class even after the head coach was fired, that's not by dumb luck, and look at the golden boy Jimbo. He's currently getting his arse handed to him because he fought to retain a shitty DC.

This "interim wins don't matter" argument baffles me when it comes to Orgeron. You know the guy can recruit, so this is about the talent level he should have if he's hired. He's got an extensive network of contacts and is respected by his peers so you know he will be able to get assistants. He has handled the PR part of the job pretty well throughout his career, and has already dealt with his best player being hurt. He's developed top 10 draft picks at DL, and coached under some elites.

Pretty much all you're waiting to see is if he can translate the intangibles to wins on the field by developing good game plans, motivating his talent to play to their ability, and making in game adjustments. You have the toughest teams and the best coach in the country to test him, with the adversity of a few short weeks thrown in. I honestly don't know what else you guys want from him if he goes and wins the games.

If we fired a Miles to hire a coach that wasnt getting defensive coordinator offers ill be livid. We just had a great recruiter with questionable game day coaching and you want the same exact thing. If thats the case we shouldve just kept miles and had both great recruiters on staff.

Over the last 4 years its been proven that JUST having great talent wont win the west. Numerous west teams have started to get lots of talent. Coaching will be the difference.

If you can't see the difference between Miles putting an iron fist on game day planning and thinking he always knew best even when it was failing miserably, and Orgeron having the OPPORTUNITY to prove he won't do the same and can have success against the toughest teams in the west then you're blind.
