People seem to think O is stupid and knows little about football. What is their rationale for this? How do we know O doesn't know defense inside and out? Who says he doesn't know offense? Is this simply an assumption because he's a coon arse? I'll say it again, if O proves himself in the next few weeks he should get the job!
Because these other coaches have actually went out and ran a program with success. Add to the fact most of these coaches (Herman and Jimbo) have had major success as a coordinator.
That's what separates them from Coach O.
Let O go to a school like UH and go 11-1 or go be a DC and have a top 10 defense. If he had done this, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
A successful DL coaching career is not going to cut it.
If the top tier candidates tell LSU to take a hike, then you can still hire O.
But if you would have asked everyone before this year if they would want O to be HC, they would have laughed in your face.

Very good point.
Does anyone on this board think O could make Houston an 11 win team?

Ask Notre Dame or Texas if doing well at a smaller school always equates to success at a top 10-15 program.
