he would be wise to not sign a new contract and leverage other offers to get a better deal if he really wants to stay in Houston

what makes you think he hasnt gotten a deal from LSU and thats not what houston is doing right now.?

There have been no talks with Herman or his agent, Yurachek said yesterday. Additionally, Herman has said he wished he could sue people who publish false information about his job status.

9 AM Video: Ryan Clark was on Mike & Mike this morning cheering the Big 12's rejection of Houston as an opportunity for Alleva to open the checkbook and land Herman. LINK Herman was set to receive a salary increase to 5.5 mm/yr and a 5 mm bonus for the Big 12. So that is what you expect he will be offered, regardless. Houston is determined to keep Herman who says he and his wife both love the city and the quality of life there. His contract has a buyout which is null and void if Houston does not keep up with the scheduled facilities upgrades: indoor practice facility, operations building.

“I think it’s going to take a phenomenal - and I mean phenomenal – opportunity for coach Herman to leave the University of Houston,” Yurachek told the radio station.

“We’re committed to making it very hard for him to leave here at this point. Somebody is going to have to come and really take him and offer him something really phenomenal, because we are going to make it really hard for him to say no to the University of Houston.”

Last Night 10/18: UH Officials discussing Herman Contract Extension

Following Tuesday night’s practice, Herman said, “it’s flattering to know your administration believes in you.”

“It gives you renewed energy to go out and coach hard and prepare to win football games,” he added. “But we’re a long ways away from any finalization.”

Herman has said that "If Texas is not the best football state in America I will kiss your arse."
