As noted, Houston's program loses money to the tune of the annual $23M that the university has to put up to keep the athletic dept. afloat. This per an article in the Houston paper last mth. With a 40K seat stadium, the football program will never be able to generate enough revenues to both pay Herman top dollar AND to keep his staff's pay competitive. No way can Houston afford to keep him. As to the comparison between the number of cooks in UT's athletic programs and LSU's, LSU has its share, like any major college program. But UT just has a lot more with lot longer tentacles. Consider that UT's biggest booster came out when Strong was hired & ranted & raved that Strong was not UT type & he, the booster, did not like him. LSU has no one like that, at least publically. That rant made ESPN for 2 days.
