i get the asik argument...i really do.
at this point though we have to make the best of it, asik's money and the asset to get him are long gone.

the lineups he can play in are so limited

maybe they can move him next year. if he's so unwanted that the cannot, then why the hell should the pels make roster decisions around him? writ off the 11MM as dead money and move on

holiday/frazier/galloway
hield/moore
hill/pondexter/dante/gee
davis/jones/hill/noel
noel/asik/diallo

next year add either a first or high second rnd player, move asik, replace jones if necessary

i like it

I think he's potentially dumpable starting next year too. However, while you and I would give him away for free, what makes you think Demps would? He never traded Gordon even though he was on the block even before Tyreke was acquired. And Anderson was on the trade block practically every year he was here and Demps never got offered enough value to move him, even in a clearly lost season when a future 1st was on the table.

Even if you take Asik out of the equation, pairing AD with a one way big on a max deal violates a pretty firm team building principle in my mind. I've said before I'm not sure Drummond and AD would work out long term because of the money distribution. Look at how hard a time the Clippers have had filling out the roster around CP3/Blake/Jordan. And Blake is a much better creator than AD which in theory takes pressure off not having a wing creator, something the Pels wouldn't be able to afford with their 3 max deals locked up at PG/PF/C in this scenario.

yeah. i get it, but i think it's sort of irrelevant at this point. lot of talk about sunk cost the past few years- asik is a sunk cost.

also not sure why people think noel will get a max contract. biyombo is a better player, with a huge playoffs and no injury history, and he didn't come close to a max.

yes, you're spending $16-$20M/year on him. that's the going rate for a 23 yo 5 that puts up 10 reb, 2 stl, 2 asts, and 2 blk per 36.
