The great recruiting classes have more to do with the fact that a lot of those boys grew up on LSU football and dreamed all their lives of playing for LSU someday. The excellent facilities also had a lot to do with that success. The university also is a huge drawing card. The fact that LSU plays in the elite SEC conference is also very attractive to recruits. The opportunity to possibly play for a national championship is also very appealing. Tiger Stadium and the traditions of LSU football are also a big drawing card. The overall success and prestige of the program despite the poor coaching is also very attractive for recruits, which has more to do with the fact that LSU is located right in the heart of a very rich recruiting ground and also has top notch facilities.
I’ll give a little credit to Miles for hiring some coaches that were fairly good recruiters, but not great, as it seemed like Saban came in and cherry picked some top prospects in the state almost every year.
Overall, Miles was a pretty damn mediocre coach and it was quite obvious to many of us for many years.

So, you agree that this program isn't in a 2-4 year hole?

I'd suggest that what Miles and his staff did this past recruiting season in the face of the events that happened at the end of the year was nothing short of top notch. I don't think there is a staff in the country that could have done better.
