I have a Tundra where the back glass will slide all the way down, however I had it left cracked maybe an inch down. Vehicle was otherwise locked.
Insurance is insurance, the purpose of it is there to protect, even against negligence towards yourself. That's what's wrong with these insurance companies these days.

I'm going to have to agree with you there. It's incredible that you can be responsible for someone stealing your shite, no matter the circumstance.
