They have gained a lot of credibility lately so I would listen to them.
I had purchased a new Samsung refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave as part of an update to the kitchen. I installed the refrigerator, but left the microwave and dishwasher in the garage, planning an install when I had time.
I was told to run a gallon of water through it every day and then replace the water filter after two weeks with a new filter. two weeks later, when I tried to remove the filter, I couldn't. The water pressure behind it was too high. I had to pull the refrig out of the wall space and the cabinets, unplug it, and turn off the water at the spigot before the filter would come loose.
I put in the new filter. Then, I turned everything back on and tried removing the filter. No way.
I called Samsung to find out if there was something wrong. Their answer? (read in broken Korean/English)
"Oh, that is design benefit for you. Keep water from leak into refligelator. You will like."
When I got off the phone I called Best Buy where I purchased everything and told them to come out and pick up this crap. I returned the whole mess. I stay away from Samsung, now.

Had my Samsung Counter-mount depth stainless side-by-side fridge installed in May of 2013. Over three years of worry free, rock-solid operation.
As with anything else...your mileage may vary, but I'd be quick to recommend the brand based on my experience.
