Back to deer though, is it heavily hunted, have a good size deer herd? I remember some years back when they pulled those 3 bucks out of the east pearl that got locked up and all were over 140 and one around 160 iirc.

IMO, your best oppty at shooting a quality buck in PR is using a boat and getting far away from people. You need to do lots of scouting after the season when the leaves are gone and you can walk the cypress/tupelo swamp bottoms. Bring your GPS and mark rubs, scrapes, trails, and high ridge lines.

those woods are HUGE and it's very easy to get disoriented and lost if you've never put the time in to scout. I would look at topo maps and study a particular area and learn it.

Sherburne is the same way, although not as intimidating. Both flood annually and the terrain changes from heavy rains and hurricanes.
