Building a shower pan is usually not something you want to mess around with.

I do a lot myself. I've put in all my own flooring at my other house, I've run wiring when needed, I've hung door frames, installed dishwashers, etc..
The valve cartridge was stuck. The reason it stripped. I wasn't getting too rough with it and damaging it more. I'm not even remotely worried about that issue.

It's the other issue I had him look at that I care about.
