Are they worth the paper they're printed on?

They can be used to show the injured person was made aware of the possibility of danger, but they can't be used to totally absolve oneself of fault and liability.

The waviness protect them from someone who may step in a hole and break an ankle or someone who fails to hydrate. It would not protect them from failure to make sure obstacles were structurally sound.
