A bit of sour grapes from Bob

"I'm glad that Jurgen said some nice things now. When he did commentary on the 2010 World Cup, he was already jockeying for the job. I shut my mouth, continued to support the team because I of course want to see the team do well, Michael [Bradley's son] is the captain. So if [Klinsmann] said something in a nice way I appreciate it and if at some point he chooses to try to work outside the U.S., I wish him the best."

In hindsight he's right. He was treated very unfairly by USSF as well as the fans.

In the sense that he was held to a higher standard than what Jurgen has been held to, yes, but still, it was time to move on after the Mexico loss. It just so happens we moved on to a lesser coach. That's the inherent risk that comes with it.

Which is a pretty big frick you to Bob.

A risk we should have terminated when we lost to Mexico.

He was shite on by USSF from day one. They spent the better part of his first year(?) specifically calling him the INTERIM coach.

He wasn't treated much better by the fans either, to be honest. It was pretty much unanimous at the time that he needed to go. It's a credit to him that he's such a hardworking, kick arse dude and he's moved on to (arguably) bigger and better things.

Bob sucked arse as a manager.

We got to the knockouts of a World Cup playing with Jonathan Bornstein and Ricardo Clark. The man does well with what he's given. I used to hate bob too, and I'm glad us soccer moved on, but if you think he's a bad coach you are pretty clueless.

On the field results he has done the same, if not better than Jurgen, but with less talent.
Off the field he got slammed unfairly, because he played his son, and he wasn't the big name foreigner that many US fans wanted.
As much as I'm not a Klinsman fan, but I think we will really see his true impact in 10 years.

Always liked Bob and thought he set us up well tactically.
He's right, and I felt the same way at the time.

The criticism he got for playing his son when Michael was still a young player can be forgiven because of the lack of a resume he had at that point. And the big name foreigner thing was real. US fans, and a lot of dudes on this board, wanted a manager with some street cred in Europe.
This is a pretty obvious thing to say but It should be noted that at the time we didn't know the kind of bad arse guy we had in Bob. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only real experience he had was in MLS before he got the national team gig. The shite he had to deal with in Egypt was unprecedented and he came out of it as a hero. Accomplishing what he did - A white American man coaching the national team during a revolution, along with the Port Said massacre and the domestic league shutting down for 2 years - he represented himself and our country in the best way possible.
I'm still behind Jurgen 100% because really I have no choice but to be. He isn't going anywhere until at least after this world cup cycle. But if it's clear after WC 2018 that we need a change, I think we'd be lucky to have Bob as our manager again.

I think the issue with Bob is we still wouldn't have any talent. Jurgy has under whelmed at times on the pitch but our talent seems to be improving

I understand that argument, but I wonder how much has been the natural growth of the game vs Klinsmann doing. Green is the direct example of a positive, but players like Kitchens and Pulisic, I wonder if they would have ended up in the same position.

Meh, that may be overblown a bit. Our pool was getting better regardless and it's not like Bob wasn't opposed to bringing in dual-nationals.

I don't know how many he could bring in. I don't think our attack would be getting as strong. Jurgy isn't perfect though
