About as successful as Bill Walsh - not very successful.
Both cerebral coaches wrapped too much into the nuisance of the game. CFB is a relationship game...kids and mentors. You have to be able to relate.
Hell, by Belichick's standards...Bill Walsh would probably now be seen as hip and relatable.
Belichick on a recruiting visit...

People always say Belichick couldn't recruit... But what do you all think free agency is? It's basically professional recruiting... NE rarely, if ever offers the biggest contract and Belichick does all of these free agency calls with agents and players. He is THE guy in the Pat's organization when it comes to swaying Free agent to sign with NE.
Jimmy Johnson has told stories about Bill being on the fishing boat with him in Florida and Belichick constantly on the phone closing free agents.
