Goff Rugby - LSU v Baylor Preview
The Red River Championship weekend is finally here. Tomorrow night, LSU will take on Baylor for the Red River crown. Despite being a heavy favorite based on their unblemished conference record, LSU is taking no chances against the best team Baylor has had in years. The winner earns a home playoff game and the loser may be left out entirely.
The match will be streamed live starting at game time.

Well, the Tigers unfortunately failed to meet their own lofty expectations this season. With the loss to Baylor, LSU will likely miss out/ decline a bid for the upcoming playoffs. If they did receive a bid, they would likely have to go on the road to play Life or St. Mary's during Easter weekend. (For those that don't follow rugby, a comparable matchup would be McNeese playing LSU in football.) With finals coming up, the team will look to refocus the team towards 7's competition.
It's not all doom and gloom for the Tiger ruggers. The post season accolades are coming in for LSU. All-in-all LSU put 11 players on all-conference teams and had the conference player of the year. 5 Tigers were named to Red River All-Conference 1st team, 4 more made the second team, and 2 were honorable mention. LSU's captain Brennan Falcon was named as the Red River Rugby Player of the Year.
1st Team:
Hooker: Hunter Breit
Lock: Zack Stratton
Flanker: Brennan Falcon (Player of the Year)
Wing: Trevor O'Neal
Fullback: Cameron Troxler
2nd Team:
Flanker: Joe Ruocco
Eight Man: Todd Dupre
Fly Half: John Crilly
Wing: Alec Miller
Honorable Mention (3rd Team):
Lock: Andy Mullens
Scrum Half: Mike Lloyd
