Help me with Baton Rouge Trip

Looking to come down in a couple of weeks for a quick Friday night trip with my wife. We are wanting to just come down to the 13th Gate and then go for drinks after. We both plan on having plenty to drink pretty much all night so I don't want to be driving and I don't really want to catch a cab from spot to spot. The Belle Casino seems to be right there and perfect for close proximity to 13th Gate and then we could go for drinks at XO after that. But the reviews are horrible for those rooms. Are they really that bad? Can any of y'all give me better ideas of where I could stay that would be close to good restaurants or drinking spots? What is my best bet to go to 13 Gate and out drinking after?

Don't stay there ... Hotel Indigo isn't far and it's nice. The Hilton isn't far either. And as a matter of fact, I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express downtown in January and it was really nice.
DON'T pick the Belle.
And eat at Little Village (downtown). GET THE BREAD. DON'T ASK. JUST DO IT.

after the haunted house, go to George's Place just next door. Makes the best drinks in town.

You could stay at the Hampton Inn on the corner of Lafayette and Main. After you finish with the 13th Gate, you can walk Third St. and hit several bars such as Happy's, Bourdreaux's, Schlitt's and Giggles, Roux House, etc. etc. Maybe head over to Lafayette St. and catch a band at The Blues Room.
Jolie Pearl has good food and drinks.
Capital City Grill has good grub.
All these spots are between 13th Gate and the Hampton Inn.

Is xo still open? 5th street is where all the nightlife is, and the Spanish moon

The Belle is honestly not that bad. For the price and the location, I think it's def worth it.
