This. If you think Herman MIGHT come, you better leave the job open as long as possible.

LSU did not fire it's winningest coach and pay a $13M buyout so that they could promote the DLine coach.

Think about that for a second.

Again, I agree. Sign Herman at all costs. But will the search committee see it that way when Herman's price tag will be 5 or 6mil and Coach O is 2 or 3mil.

But thats my point. There is no way the BOS and Alleva go into this thinking they will pay any less than $5M a year. for the simple fact that they had to pay big money just to get here.

Thats like spending the money for a Ferrari and then going cheap and putting a Pinto engine in it. It's a joint purchase.

If the LSU admin isn't willing to pay at least $5mil, then they should have just kept Miles. $5mil is the starting salary for a coach coming in to a program at LSU's level.

I think there's a possibility that you start negotiations with a coach like Herman at $4mil, it's a million dollar raise for him and he still hasn't really proved himself as a head coach so maybe you can get him for a little bit less. But if they're not willing to go to $5-$6 mil, then it will be a 'meh' hire.
