The key to him choosing to switch to LSU really didn't have much to do at all with being close to his family. I mean it played a minor role, but the main reason he chose LSU was due to his relationship with Cam. After suffering his initial ACL tear, Cam (who happened to be in attendance at the spring game) was at the hospital with him, not Auburn. When he hurt himself in the state championship game, Cam went with him to the hospital in Thibodaux, not Auburn. When his father died, Cam and his wife came to the funeral, not Auburn. I was there for some conversations where Can told him he was their #1 guy, even after Brennan committed. After the Wisconsin loss apparently Cam told him that he might want to start looking into other options, just in case. So yes, this was a case where he committed to a coach, not a school. I don't know where Cam will end up, but if he gets an OC job someplace it wouldn't surprise me to see him continue to recruit Jr. However at this point he has his family (including 2 ex-NFL players) and coaches guiding him and providing advice. For what it's worth, he's also been told by multiple people that it's not likely Tom Herman will come to LSU because he's holding out for the Texas job, which many people think will be available this season as well.
