If we miss, several options:
Aranda and roll the dice. From what I've read, he was heading towards HC material soon, maybe we get in on the ground floor and it works out. Gotta give him more slack, figure a couple of years learning on the job before demanding he take Saban down.
Jim Tressel; the NCAA sanctions end this December, so he would be free and clear. This would be a lateral move in a way; accomplished coach (like Miles) heading towards retirement (he's 62). When I say lateral, I mean lateral to Miles when he was on top of his game; Tressel knows how to win. We'd probably remain a 10 win program, don't think he could overcome Saban (but who knows with our skill players>). Would buy us a couple of years to look again down the road, without the program collapsing.
Art Briles; he's out there. Lotsa dirty laundry, but Baylor athletics seem to be a mess overall when it comes to thugs. For those who want OFFENSE, I'd say Briles surpasses Petrino, Jimbo and even Herman. Could you imagine LSU averaging close to 600 yds of offense?
