re: What's the silliest reason you've seen someone get offended?

I was in a meeting and had a woman called me out for casually using the term "a boat load" to refer to an excessive quantity of something.
She said that phrase was referencing slave ships and it was inappropriate.
I always assumed it was actual cargo ships it was referring to.
Anyway, the irony is that I used the term "boat load" so that I wouldn't say "butt load" which is my preferred nomenclature when referring to large quantities.

She was white? I would have had trouble keeping my composure In that instance. I've seen my dad get drunk and offended plenty of times. One time we are over at parrots in Kenner looking at some army surplus. The owner who he knows, in a shitty joking manner, offers him a job. I don't know why this pushed his buttons but we get home and next thing I know he's calling the guy up asking him wtf he meant by it. Kind of funny to think about it now. Miss that guy. About to go work on his fence.
