How did Etling not get more attention in practice?

He's light years ahead of Harris in his development. Not anointing him anything but at worst, he's an average QB. His foot movement, progression, pocket presence and overall technique are better than Harris'.
So why did he not get more press? We hardly heard anything about him out of camp. It doesn't add up.

Who cares, move on.
He's our qb now

The same reason why Welter started over Debo and Kwon.

We have an incompetent head coach and QB coach/OC

Because Les closes practice before any media can call him out on his bad personnel decisions

Do you really have to ask why?

I thnk Miles and Cam absolutely refused to admit failure or wrong. Sometimes you got to fold them
Oh well. We good now

Last year he probably didn't get first team reps since he had to sit out. Harris was the established starter coming into this year and it was his job to lose.
Either Harris does really well in practice, or he was on a really short rope in the first two games. Perhaps the staff knew what they had in Etling, but they weren't prepared to directly take the job away from Harris.

I'M TIRED OF THS shite!
Occam's razor says the simplest answer is the most likely.
So, here are the possible answers. Harris looked better in practice. Etling didn't look good in practice; at least not good enough to beat out Harris. The coaches thought Harris was "just this close" to putting it together and thought he deserved the chance to try. (Les IS often loyal to a fault and there is something to be said about making a backup TAKE A JOB AWAY from a starter.)
There's no freaking conspiracy to deliberately lose or deliberately piss you off. The staff gave Harris every chance to keep the job he earned last year, then made a change when it became evidently necessary.
It's really that simple, but the self-anointed geniuses and Miles haters on this board won't accept that coaching and human behavior aren't exact sciences.
If anyone on here thinks he can coach half as well as the guys that are there, then do us all a favor and please submit your application to Alleva.
Otherwise, do us all a favor and stfu.

$10 million or so in annual salaries and you would think somebody could've figured this one out. But hey, it's taken nearly 10 years not to have countless delay of game calls. Though on the last one, miles did his best to run out the clock before scoring at the end of the half.

I als the same question all the time about some of Less'S decisions.

Same reason Mettenburger didn't get any measurable playing time in 2011, despite him being better than JJ and JL.

It's not hard to see that Harris has more physical ability. Not really a stretch to see that

The same reason we run the stupid toss dive. And not just the toss dive. We run it right into huge masses of men. We have Bozo the clown controlling the offense. It's not Cam's fault. Not just some bad qbs over the years. Look at what Gundy said about Les when Gundy was Les' OC.

Harris practicing in a green jersy, that's how

Just one more reason to get rid of Les Miles.

He took a leadership role and practiced wth the receivers.
He studied film and prepared himself.
Fact that many on this board made fun of him, he believed in himself.
He did what leaders do, he made himself ready for his chance.
He didn't wait for someone to tell him, he just did it.
