Realistically, how often should a Football Program like LSU win a Championship?

I'd say on average, in the post-Saban era, an LSU caliber program should walk away with a title once about every ten years and make the playoff two, maybe three times over a ten year stretch.
I base this on in state talent, recruiting classes, facilities, and alumni/state support.
Does this seem fair? Or unrealistic?

Be in serious contention 2 out of 4 years on a cycle at minimum.
I don't think it's the lack of championships. It's being mediocre at best since 2011

Realistically with all the FSU, OU, UT, USC, ect.
At most once a decade, but we should be competitive for one at least 8 out of 10 of those.
This isn't NCAA. I think 39 teams have won a Natyy of some sort and a large portion of those remain competitive for one every year
We just haven't met those expectations. We haven't event looked competitive for one since 2012

Once we get a new head coach I'll get back to you on this.

serious contention
Please define this.
If the current Alabama program wasn't in out division, we'd probably be in serious contention much more than we have been.

Well it shouldn't be 8 years without winning a major bowl game. That is unacceptable

At the very least a program like LSU should make a major bowl every three years. The drought we are in right now is really unacceptable considering the amount of NFL players on a roster right now.

Unfortunately a school in our division is in a Saban era. LSU would have a lot more hardware if Saban stayed in the NFL. So to answer your question, until Saban retires I don't expect much of anything. Dude is probably the best college coach ever in the middle of a dynasty run.

I think every 4-6 years but your program should be relevant even if you're not winning the ship. You should never be tied for 5th in a 7 team division

Take off every SEC West schools loss to Alabama since 2013 and we are still an average SEC team
Alabama is a problem in terms of winning it all, not a problem in being competitive. LSU hasn't been competitive for too damn long.

I like to see LSU have 1 and 2 loss seasons again
See LSU take over inferior teams in the 2nd half
See LSU be more competitive in November and not get blown out 3 straight games in a row

Completely realistic and completely agree.

Name a team of LSU's caliber that has gotten beaten soundly by every team in their division with exception of 1 team (A&M) the last two years. I'll hang up and listen.

I expect Les and LSU to accomplish just what Les has said his goal was: COMPETE FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS. That means being relavent for an SEC title until the end of November and actually going About half the time. We have the highest paid staff, top facilities and plenty of talent in the region. We should accept nothing less.

Historically speaking that's damn good. The problem is for one the steady decline from contending for a division crown to fighting for a 3-4th place finish. Second it's the stagnant offense every year. Miles hasn't adapted and he should have recognized what the program needs and that's a good offensive product on the field. Miles has won a lot he recruits well and reps the program and state well. Imo he should've promoted change if not schematically then just more balance and creativity and he shouldn't have allowed Harris to have the starting job gift wrapped. With the offensive woes last season I I ya gotta reopen the competition and play both qbs in live action like many coaches did.

At least twice a year.

That's fair. I don't expect to ever win the SEC again or a NC as long as Saban is at Bama. But LSU could beat the other other teams more consistently and make some sugar bowls.
