I said the same thing yesterday. People excuse being an a-hole by saying "well, that's life" as if there is no alternative. They act as though they've got an obligation to be an a-hole because some other unrelated person was an a-hole to them at one point.

There is a distinct difference between being coddled and being compassionate. Telling Harris it is okay to handle things the way he has would be coddling him. Telling Harris the way he handled things is inappropriate but he has our support to pull through would be compassionate. Too many people fail to understand the difference and opt for being a complete dick to make sure no one thinks they're coddling him.

Hey I have been arguing the other side on this discussion but would like to say that I would never speak hatred towards our players at LSU. I just think that if fans have the want to express themselves or talk about players then, they can. It doesn't mean they won't look like a bunch of fricktards but oh well

I think that's what I and others are saying. I'm not for anyone shutting that down officially...though I do openly question this forum's coddling of that type of behavior...but I think it ought to be shouted down by fellow fans who simply have no tolerance for that kind of thing.

I understand that not everyone agrees with me...I'm just not sure why that is if you love the program and want it to succeed. i can;t think if one positive for the program that can come with ranting either on this forum about a player's performance or about them personally or directly to them on social media. It won't benefit their performance, it won't change the decision of a coach to play them, it won't endear our fan base to recruits...all it seems to do is alienate the individual player, potentially cool the level of interest of recruits and generally cast a pall of negativism over the program.

In the end, it seems a very selfish act that enables the fan to vomit emotionally, and then walk away without taking any responsibility for the outcome. And then, when the program is viewed negatively, they act as if it happened all on it's own.
