That is not that unusual. I spent a lot of time at the TNCC unit this past April visiting someone very close to me. What you mentioned is what I witnessed from someone suffering from a TBI. I will say that the staff there is exceptional, and I pray that he will have a successful recovery.

My condolences. I'll be sure to say a prayer for your friend in ICU and your family. I hope he pulls through.

Hopefully this is just a bad reaction to pain meds. Sincere condolences.
