Anyone else going to check out the new Cinemax show "Quarry" tonight?
The cast includes Jamie Hector (Marlo Stanfield, "The Wire") and Damon Herriman (Dewey Crowe, "Justified"). And some of the behind the scenes talent were involved in "Banshee" and "Rectify".
Premieres at 10 PM EST/9 PM CST tonight.

When Marine Mac "Quarry" Conway returns home to Memphis in 1972 after fighting in Vietnam, he finds that he has been shunned by his loved ones and demonized by the public. Upon his return stateside, Quarry struggles to cope with what he experienced and witnessed while at war and readapt to civilian life. As he struggles to make ends meet financially, Quarry gets drawn into a network of killing and corruption that extends throughout the length of the Mississippi River, and The Broker -- the cunning, secretive crime boss who runs the operation -- takes a special interest in him.

Watching this morning. As an aside, Graham Gordy (one of the two writer/producers) is an Arkansan and huge Hog/SEC fan.

will there be titties ?
From the writer's facebook feed:

I heard a fairly honest review from a friend who told me the show is mostly just sex and drug use to fill space between violent acts. That the writers of the show are just tying to shovel what people want most at the audience to make sure they get picked up for a second season.
Then again, it was you that told me all that. Congrats Graham, can't wait to see it!
Graham is the writer, by the way.
It's getting really good reviews for the most part. Some really GREAT reviews. A few critics don't like it.

Also:
The original idea was that Gordy and Fuller wanted to write a show about the Dixie Mafia. They then found the Max Alan Collins Quarry books and pitched resetting them in Memphis, so they could combine the two worlds.
The show will be steeped in Southern culture from music to history to politics to race to food. As such, SEC fans should enjoy it.

Curious as to why they didn't show it being filmed in arkansas in the credits.

Second episode tonight. I probably won't watch until tomorrow, unfortunately.

Second episode was better than the first.
I'm curious whether the Broker actually needed the reporter that Mac killed by dropping the car on his head (and who was coincidentally having an affair with Mac's wife) for some reason, or whether it was just to lure Mac in.
He knocked 4k off his tab for it, so I"m thinking the reporter might have been doing a story on their crime family.
Also, J. Roddy Walston cameo.

Great show thus far. i can't understand why he owes the thirty thousand to the broker. His friend took the money he didn't.

He was "partnered" with his friend on the hit. But yeah, they could have made it a little more clear.
There's an explanation out there from the writers that the Broker's play was to get Mac all along. He turned to his buddy knowing that his buddy would get Mac involved.
