To honor of the last day of our offseason, I couldn't resist Re: #5for5

I normally am not one to dwell on players who chose to not come to LSU, but this really is a unique situation regarding the 5for5 debacle that occurred a few years back. A look at how each player is doing going into year three...
Leonard Fournette and Jamal Adams: both regarded as leaders, numerous accolades and preseason all-americans, no brushes with law, work ethic lauded by teammates and coaches, both projected first round picks.
Speedy Noil, Gerald Willis, Tony Brown: All three suspended for their respective season openers, multiple brushes with the law, work ethic questioned in all three, no draft stock to speak of.
Some will say I'm piling on these kids, and I guess I am, but it really is crazy just how well this worked out for LSU in the end.

this is interesting for sure....although we have had players get in trouble with the law it happens to everyone but yes your observation regarding the 5for5 is intriguing

We didn't want to go 2-5 but We definitely got the right two

It's actually not all that surprising. Recruits who like attention to much or, worse, who "troll" tend to have a sense of entitlement, lack respect for others and/or are deeply insecure about their true abilities.
Take Fournette. He was never insecure about his ability, never begged for attention and never played silly twitter games. And, to be honest, take Cam Robinson. He knew he wanted Bama, never drug things out or led coaches on and didn't let local fans pressure him. Both are top 10 picks.
Juxtapose them with the three players you cite. Attention seeking, disrespectfulness and insecurity are not good traits for a team sport, particularly when eventually you WILL have to prove yourself against the very best.
It's not like we're immune to these types of players. Travonte Valentine was tremendously insecure and immature as a recruit. He committed and decommitted from three schools before signing with us. And it is not a great shock that he had trouble adjusting to college life and not starting. Fortunately for him, it seems some in his life helped him and he was smart enough to realize that the NFL isn't there if you don't grow up a little. I'm still concerned that Valentine won't make it all of the way to the end of this season for these reasons (I hope I am wrong because he sounds like a tremendous talent in a position of great need for us).
Going back to Janzen Jackson, highly rated LA recruits over the past decade who snub LSU and do so in disrespectful fashion tend to flop.

I don't recall Jamal Adams being amongst those 5. I thought it was Trey Quinn.
