As a junior, I'm neither in a power position nor in need of psychiatric treatment. I never really think about being a junior though because my dad goes by the first name and I go by my middle name.

You see that often, and many times the III goes by Trey, but if you're going to do that then what is the point of passing on the name? I'm genuinely curious.

I really don't know. I'd assume maybe it's just kind of internal pressure to keep it going.

I go by Trey irl now. Didn't used to growing up. Started going by the nickname because I ended up going to A&M just like my dad, who is from the area, but he went by his first and middle names interchangeably growing up. Started getting confusing since he still has a ton of connections there.

My immediate family still calls me by my real name, but my wife calls me Trey, and I prefer that.

My dad's dad passed away when he was young, and now my dad exclusively answers to his middle name, so if/when I had a son, him going by his first name wouldn't be too confusing, really.

As a III, the point of a nick name is to differentiate your accomplishments from you father's and grandfather's.

And it's cool.
