I am currently dreading the jump when my 15 yr old gets her license. The plan was to pass down the wife's 2012 car to her and buy the wife a new vehicle. Then, I checked out State Farm's ratings by vehicle, and learned that we are going to be better off buying wife and daughter a different vehicle since the cost to insure my wife's current car is much higher than the average vehicle. The point being, cheaper is not always better if the cheaper vehicle is rated poorly for certain things. The link below is what I found at State Farm, but I'm not recommending that or any other particular insurance, just something to consider.
