It's hard to win the SEC, let alone the National Championship. That said, unless there are some catastrophic injuries that occur (i.e. to someone like Harris, Beckwith, Fournette, Pocic, Key, etc), Les doesn't have ANY excuses for not being seriously in the hunt for the SEC and National title.
This team is very experienced and talented. Plus, the schedule is probably as favorable as it gets for LSU.
They catch Wisc. in a bit of a rebuilding year
They get the other two best teams in the SECW (Bama and OM) at home.
The rotating east opponent is a Mizzou team with a lot of questions (at home)
All the road opponents seem to have some significant questions -- AU (who is their QB?, RB?); UF (was last season a bit of a fluke with a 1st year HC? They have a former walk-on at QB); Ark (They'll run it well and should have a good defense, but that late season run has as much to do with a Sr. QB finally "clicking" in his last season); A&M (defense should be better, but the program has been a trainwreck since about Oct. '15)
Man for man, LSU should be better than every opponent except maybe Bama. However, that game is in TS where LSU has blown chances to put them away late in the last two meetings.

I was there in person. It was 16-13 at the half!
Then Honeybadger took over. Closer game than the final score showed.
You probably love Oregon uniforms too. Get out of here with that crap. Oregon didn't stand a chance. They could not move the ball and we could run all over them. Give Miles credit. He did a great job preparing that team for a very different type of offense that tries to move at lightening speed.

Virginia Tech
That was a total skull crushing, but was not the season opener. We played Miss State the week prior.

LSU hasn't won handily against any opening big non conference opponent in the Les Miles era.
I'm not going to go through the list, or cite his non-conference record, or even cite bowl games. I'm just going to say that this is an absurd and uneducated statement. Your opinion is now meaningless.
