It's a controversy based on race, free speech, and politics

The NFL doesn't want in that mess

It has gotten university deans ousted, police officers tried with murder even though they never should have been indicted, and started riots. Add on top of that a league comprised of lots of black men who are also underepresented in coaching and management positions, and you have too many ingredients for a disaster.
