Well it's not necessarily that simple, but your point is valid. He doesn't have to change much though for it to work.

Meh. I expect more of the same. Miles is nothing if not consistent. No playoffs but not bad enough to justify firing him. 10-2 finish with a loss to Alabama and a team we shouldn't lose to (Arkansas or A&M). Offense struggles in both the loses. Same old story.

What a complete crock of shite. No one wants LSU to lose or play poorly. You have got to be a special kind of idiot to think that would be the case.
You have been here long enough to know there are lsu fans that hate Miles more than they love lsu. If you cant see it then you just dont want to.

One of two things are going to happen this year.
I reject your binary outlook. The offense will be slightly different, largely due to the fact that the QB has experience. He throws for 62%, instead of 53%, and we throw an average of four or five more times a game. Believe it or not, this alone should put him in the 2,700-ish yardage range and 18-22 TDs.
That improvement in the passing game, coupled with a better defense and a running game about the same as '15 will get us to 11-1 or better.
So Les will change a thing, but not a lot, and he won't get fired. It will be 2013 all over again, but with a much better defense.

Other than them he hasn't had a QB he had faith in to make the offense fun.
That is entirely LES MILES' FAULT...how about developing one that fits your scheme. Such bullshite.

I know you won't appreciate this, but I get pissed-off when we finish the season behind teams like Air Force, Marshall, and Duke.
Wow! That's the problem with stats...do you really think those teams would be ahead of us if they played our schedule?

Against Florida, three plays come to mind...a flea flicker that led to a TD, a virtual Hail Mary where Harris escaped a sack and tossed a deep ball to Dupre for a score right before halftime, and the fake field goal. In short LF7 ran like a champ, but to expect that sort of "trick or busted" play production again anywhere, nevertheless in the Swamp, is not realistic. Oh yeah, and we barely won that game at home with all of that working for us.
We gained the 2nd most yards given up all year against the 7th best defense in cfb. Of course you want to take away offensive plays that went lsu's way because it doesnt paint our offense as shite.

You can thank the defense for lettjng a back up qb carve them up for 271 yards.
Lf ran well but he only ran for 5.8 woth a long of 25.

Come on, man, this is a tired narrative if I've ever seen one, and it's not true. I don't agree with their constant miserable negativity and all, but they wouldn't be spending so much time and effort here if they didn't honestly believe that Miles being gone would make LSU better. I don't agree with that at this point, either, but thinking they somehow don't love LSU because they want Les gone is ridiculous.

This is the story for 99% of every team's losses.

bullshite. There are people on here that would take a losing season if it meant miles was fired. Thats hating miles more than loving lsu. You clearly just dont want to see it. At no point did i say wanting miles gone means they dont love lsu. Good god reread my post.

I didn't say they wouldn't take a losing season to get him fired. But I guarantee the reason some of them would is that they expect that short term step back would result in a stronger LSU program long term.

Wanting a losing season for lsu so that Miles would get fire is hating miles more than loving lsu.

Of course I think that's ridiculous, but their point would be that (in their minds), LSU would have a permanent ceiling of about 9 regular season wins in most years under Les going forward.

Except we know 9 wins isnt a ceiling under Miles. We have averaged 10 wins for 11 years.

Cool. Wanna pull up Saban's win % at lsu? Since 2012 lsu is 2nd in the sec in wins.
Saban was getting LSU established at the time. Once LSU has become established.. it's really a tremendous opportunity considering the recruiting location and lack of competing big schools around the area.
I'm pretty confident LSU would have had more success with Saban at LSU all the years (probably what Bama has done), but I'm not living in regret or what if.
I use to be afraid to lose Miles because of thinking be careful what you wish for. However, I believe a competent coach would have similar success here now that LSU is established.. and a great one could really elevate LSU into being more special. I mean we've lost 4 games a season, 3 games a season, 5 at one point, etc.. Haven't had much passing success.. I think there's room to do better given the talent here. Just my opinion though.. and it doesn't make me a Miles hater, although he has frustrated me at times.
I hope LSU and Miles have a tremendous season.

Il all for getting a known upgrade but just firing Miles without a Jimbo type coach lines up is the dumbest thinh lsu can do. You are putting lsu's future into Alleva's hands and hoping that lsu will have 3 extremely successful head coaches in a row, which is basically unheard of.
Posted on 8/28/16 at 6:12 pm to Rickdaddy4188
Yes there is "another way to put it." It's called looking at the big picture (toward the future).
If I truly believed Les needs to go (which I don't unless he botches the 2016 season), that's how I would look at it. I still wouldn't ever want a losing season, but to me the worst case scenario would be Les winning about 9-10 regular season games this year, losing the west again, and staying.

Completely agree. Without someone like a Fisher or Herman as an applicant, the discussion shouldn't happen.

I'm not one of those people, and I don't agree with them, but I think that those people are looking at the long term success of the program. They don't have confidence in Miles and would like to move on. I don't see that as hating Miles, more than they love LSU.
