While we are here and I'm thinking about it.... If you have a check from a Family member and they aren't around to sign it so you fill it out for them and sign their name.???

Is this against the law or anything? I mean you have their permission.... I once not long ago did this and obviously had no idea how he signed his name and I guess it popped up red flag. The girl at the counter had me hold on while she walked to the back of her cubical and actually called him saying someone was at his bank cashed a check and he confirmed it. She got off the phone, didn't say a word and and cashed it.

If you truly do have their permission it'll be fine. If the owner of the account has a problem with it not so much.

Usually if the recipient of the check notices they'll at least do some due diligence though.

If you are authorized to sign the instrument, it would be properly payable. However, if the signatures do not match, the bank may, or may not, honor the instrument.
