To say LSU isn’t a blue blood is assinine. There’s more than 8 blue bloods in college football period.

LSU is in the top tier of programs of the last 20 years but LSU is not in the same historical blue blood tier. As much as I hate Alabama they have 27 SEC championships to our 11 and as much as we make fun of all the titles they try to claim, they still have way more than we do. There's a tier of success above us and that's just the way it is. Being top 10 though is nothing to be upset about.

Where did "Blueblood" come from? Is it a vampire term?

It means royalty. In medieval Spain, the highest class of people did not have to do physical work, so their skin was so pale you could see their veins, and so royals were thought to have blue blood.

Florida State I would have never ranked ahead of LSU
Historically the 8 in front of LSU is correct.
Obviously this Century LSU would be in the top 8 maybe in the top 5 but so would Florida and Auburn

I love history! Thank you for that. I wasn't expecting a serious response.

The more you know!

#9 is an excellent ranking. Since 1958-59 when we won a championship to 2003 when we won another, we had had 45 years of good, often average, sometimes bad, and a few almost great teams. We were not year in and year out on the same level as other blue bloods. Since 2003 we have elevated to top tier and this year could be our best team ever.

We are ranked ahead of the U which had a magnificent run, Florida and Florida State under Spurrier and Bowden, and Paterno’s Penn State among others which have had success such as Tennessee, Georgia, and Auburn. This is a fair and generous ranking.

agree- they’ve been down so long and in an ugly way too, they are no longer a blue blood in my opinion.
