I worked at a Cavender's when I was in college.
My grandpa died and it was during a blackout week where we had a huge sale going on.
Told my manager I needed a night off for the wake and the next morning off for the funeral, she told me it was blackout and that I knew better than to ask. I just said whatever, I'm going to both if I don't have a job the next time I show up then whatever.
Showed up two days later, manager said she thought she took me off the schedule, but she actually didn't. Started just giving me shite the entire shift about not following rules and what not and I just peaced out and left them short staffed.
I went in there like six months later to buy a pair of wranglers and still knew every frick in that place. It was pretty dang awkward
