HERE'S WHAT I AM SAYING: IS THERE A BACKUP OR FRESHMAN WHO COULD BLOSSOM WITH MORE REPS NOW WHO WOULD NOT HAVE OTHERWISE????

Well, okay, that's what you're saying now. But it wasn't what you originally wrote. Read your thread title.

Sure, Lac's injury will result in more playing time for a freshman. And that freshman will be better for it. But our defense will be worse, because I don't care how much you develop a freshman, he's not going to be as good as Lac. He would have been a four year contributor and a three year starter. He was one of our best linemen and a defensive stalwart.

I'm not sure that that you are correct here (but think you probably are), but the question isn't whether we have a freshman that could be a better football player than Lacouture by midseason.

The question is whether additional early season snaps will make one player (stud freshman) better than a rotation of two players (Lacouture PLUS that same freshman but without additional snaps). And the answer to that is a very obvious "NO".
