I'm nearly 100% certain OSU was able to choose game color back in 2004 and they chose white because they saw it as an advantage to force LSU to wear purple at home when they usually did not like to and because their stupid unis were all black.

Oregon State did not want to wear black in the late summer Louisiana humidity so they denied LSU's request to wear white.
