I have one client that still faxes. I use Metrofax. I think it costs about $7 a month and allows somewhere between 250-500 pages per month without extra charge and you get a local number to your area code or for $1-$2 more a month i think you can get 800 number. There are a bunch of services out there, some start at around $2/month but I think each page costs you to send and or receive. Do a little research and see which one offers you the best deal based upon the use that you anticipate.
If you just need to send a single fax I think most of these will allow you to sign up for a free 30 day trail. Send what you need and cancel.
Like others said, you will receive an e-mail with the fax. To fax out you scan and then go through the provider and give them the number and they convert the scan from internet to a fax line.
Be sure to check origin of company and where fax lines originate as some of them are overseas and you will be charged for the long distance of the overseas origination even if the fax is coming from local.
