Over is fine. Through is not. There is a massive difference. Alligator bayou road is at 10' so it's still holding back that much water and controlling the flow.

If alligator bayou road fails it will be tragic. Rather than 1"/hr @ Jim bayou, it will likely be several inches per hour and ridge road will be evacuated. You will have drastically increased flooding along hwy 74

Now the situation is reversed. With the water higher on the Spanish Lake side and lower on the Manchac side, they want to make a 'controlled cut' into Alligator Bayou Road. Matassa hasn't heard of erosion? A talk with the Corps of Engineers seems to be in order. If this goes wrong it will be a man-made flood and open the parish up to lawsuits. First post.
