Short Term Investment Vehicles

My wife owns her own business and does not have taxes withheld. Instead of leaving 30% of her check in our checking account until tax day, is there a short term investment vehicle that's pretty liquid to leave that money in? I was thinking savings account, money market account, perhaps some short term CDs?
Thanks,
Thanks,

Getting 1% from Ally is the only vehicle I would trust for that kind of purpose.

You should be paying quarterly, so that $ invested often does not go very far. Everyone's circumstances are different though. Hope that is a good non answer.
ETA: I am self employed as well. In the past I have used that extra cash as down payments, vacation money, etc and then let it build back up before my quarterly payment was due.
